Deskology

Cleaning up the mess that is all around my desk

Trying to make it spick n span

I was startled with story called the Deskology

Have you ever wandered in your office and looked at your colleague’s desk. Well not to intrude in their work or to spy but has your roving eyes gazed at their ‘DESK’? .If not, then do it today, as after reading this you might realize a human psychology which I guess even Sigmund Freud forgot to decode.

The psychology of a desk- Well I call it the Deskology.

Every desk has a story which narrates more about the person who occupies it. Only if you look deeper and try to decode it, that you might be able to reveal the mystery behind them. A very strong built man, whose looks can wet your pants, could have happy meal toy collection on his desk. This either portrays that there is a child in him who is willing to explore life or he has not grown up at all.

If you ever walk into any advertising agency you might realize that the maximum amount of creativity is showcased on their desks. And the remaining is utilized in their work. Agencies generally act like a permit rooms and are filled with people who collect empty bottles, well I am still trying to decipher this as, it is the emptiness of life or empty creative minds?

And then there are a few people who have planted a garden on their desk, well that nowhere means they are gardeners but definitely nature lovers who love nurturing life and could be a good parent (this is not proved, yet could be true). There are a few who keep collecting and piling up the newspapers, signifying how cluttered their heads are.

But not to forget the remaining who display the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s of the world which signifies not only their love for cars but also their liking towards a fast paced life, which they live in style.

This science is yet to be proved, but once you get a hand of it you will know what I am talking about.

Cheers!

The branded life!

24 Apr 2010 In: I2I Articles, TVC Script

While flipping across the various pages of a brand management dictionary, I was enlightened with the idea of branding my own life. Contemplating on how to sell myself, I realized that it was a piece of cake. Since no one knows this brand better than me, finding the right strategy and positioning became very easy. So here it is…The BRANDED LIFE!!

With a legacy of 23 years and still going strong, the brand was found in the year 1986. Being a sole product of the company, the uniqueness lies in its modern yet traditional style which is rich in heritage. This one of its kind brand does not have any sub category or any sub brands.

The vision of the company is to achieve greater milestones in life by increasing the value of the brand. The mission is to achieve the apex by taking small steps towards success.

The traces of the brand are yet to be found worldwide since currently it is located only in India. The brand is more local and not glocal, yet has plans of expansion in terms of widening its horizon (not broadening its own range ;0)). The brand is at its maturity phase of the product life cycle and intends to grow substantially.

The product is made up of mass, energy and some fats, with a covering of soft silky white fabric, which can be customized as per the needs of the buyer. This product is perfectly packaged and branded since it is targeted to SEC A, A+ and B as only they can afford to buy this luxury. This high in value and maintenance product is an investment for life which can deliver huge returns. The demand is more than the supply, but still it can make the economy inversely proportionate.

Since the company has invested a huge finance in the brand and the income being inversely proportionate, the founders are on a look out for an investor who can take over the brand and help in its growth and income.

So any investors?? Lol

Cheers!

Creative Tweeting?

16 Apr 2010 In: I2I Articles

The bird is set free, as twitter finally manages to open its cage for advertisers. Yes! Advertisers and brands can now pick on the right key words for their products to market them.

For eg: When a user types ‘drug’ in the twitter search result then, then he may receive a tweet from the marketer who has bought this keyword ‘drug’. In the second phase of twitter advertising, the marketer can directly insert their promoted or paid tweets inside the user’s homepage.

Now this is a call to action for advertising agencies to grab on the opportunity and think of better ways to tweet. As the scope is wide and the new channel for advertising is still unmapped.

Well this increases the job of a copywriter, but it’s going to be one place where words will overpower visuals. They can tweet creatively or if they have an idea for a particular brand then they can definitely think creatweet

No long copies work here just 140 characters of creative thinking will do the work for you. Makes the job easy? Right?

So let’s get some tweets cracking!!

Cheers!

2010 Sebamed Calendar

15 Apr 2010 In: Brand, Loreal online ad, TVC Script

Body-content:

Where the silent moves makes a difference

and the glorious nature is drawn as a reference,

Where the harmless beings live at their best

and the melody of life gives them rest,

Where boundless love is showered around

and the touch of care is looked upon,

Where the desire for freedom binds every creature

and the philosophy of Live & Let live is selflessly nurtured

Nature wished every habitant to live freely and happily. One of the reasons, USV Sebamed products are never tested on animals.

This contribution towards nature is little as compared to the work done by the Indian Herpetological Society which helps wild animals and birds who are abandoned, ill, or injured. These animals reside under the shelter of Katraj Snake Park near Pune, and once healed they are set free. The animals which have suffered permanent injury stay in the shelter itself.

Nature has presented animals with unique attributes essential for its endurance and conserving them are the efforts of USV Sebamed.

What’s your prop?

14 Apr 2010 In: I2I Articles

nbsp;

Prop is defined in dictionary as – A support placed beneath or against something to keep it from shaking or falling.

Yes! The wall will wiggle, waggle, cause panic but fear not my friends because it happens not only for me and you but also for everyone around. And the only thing that will help us from trembling down is our ‘Prop’.

Prop is defined in my dictionary as – Doing what you love to do.
The reason why I call it a prop is to give a tangible perspective to your dream. Something we can calculate, feel, and see it flourish and prosper. And then the support will come naturally to you.

Most of the time we are not even aware what our Prop is, as we are bewildered by our social obligations (peer pressure, parental pressure). Oh Come on! Let’s admit it we did that MBA, joined that college, course or job not because we loved it, but it was a pattern everyone followed. I don’t deny that it is difficult to travel on the unknown route, its like running in a relay race in the dark, you don’t know if the baton is you got is the right one or wrong. But then life is like a race, and the only way to win is to keep moving forward, as that’s where we will find our prop.

Someone had once quoted that “people often ask me why do you take the hard way out, I say that you are only assuming that there are two ways”. So let’s not assume it otherwise. And what’s stopping us? money?  Well if Steve jobs wouldn’t have dropped out on his college classes and learnt the art of calligraphy, then neither our computers would have got world best typography nor would he have the worldly riches. On a beam balance when you will weigh between money and self satisfaction, you will know what weigh’s more.

Will smith had quoted in his movie ‘The Pursuit of happiness’ – “you are the best in what you do, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise”. This one statement says a lot if we can decipher it – don’t let the fear of rejection and ridicule stops you from doing what you believe in.

So go ahead! Find your prop, create your own pattern, tread on the road you are afraid of because believe me that’s where you will find your PROP that will support your life. You will know when you find it. I know mine, what’s your?

Cheers!

Word Play

25 May 2009 In: I2I Articles

Playing around with words is fun. And frankly you need not have a knack of writing or an art with words as people call it. It’s sometimes fun to see how certain words can be played around and modified which evolves itself to a completely new creation. But while you do this, there is an enemy called Grammar who will always oppose. This cruel creation which we learnt from Wren and Martin prohibits us from experimenting with our play. As according to their science of English it’s grammatically wrong. But who cares!

When SRK was asked to give a name for a cricket team, he named it as MUMBAI INDIANS? Grammatically what does it mean? Mumbai is a city and Indians are people and both are proper nouns put together, but SRK’s logic was simple Indians across the country are found in MUMBAI. And from here the team called MUMBAI INDIANS was born. Well its sounds pretty cool!

The other day a newspaper carried an article about Britney spears; Orgasmic drinking, now I wonder what kind of drink would that be?

But then when I try to play around with my own creations I get corrected all the time. I have tried to put words together like: regenerating comfort, yellow halo, bombarding with colors, regenerating customers, comfortable aura, orgasmic thinking, purple stitch and so on and so forth. This is one game I keep playing as it gives me liberty which unlocks the little knots of my rusted right brain.

Well the bottom line is, it’s FUN to be wrong. So let’s paint the town pink with your creations. Well you can excuse me for that color because I like it. That’s my creation. What’s yours?

Cheers

What’s the Logic?

22 Feb 2009 In: I2I Articles

Sometimes there is no logic behind things you do in life. I wonder why? Then I ponder upon it and conclude that it’s creative, only to realize that it’s not even that. So when our right brain works on our common sense and the left one works for creative, then how can few things not fit anywhere? May be there is no logic behind it, or may be I m trying to find out one here.

I have seen many people keeping their watch 15 minutes early, some 30, 10, 5 and so on. My inquisitive streak asks me why do people do that? What is the logic? By moving the watch hands 10-15 mins early are they trying to capture future or trying to know it before it happens? Or Are they trying to be on time at places, meetings, movies, dinners? or Are they trying to make themselves comprehend to the fact; they already know that the watch is 15 mins ahead but still have some time left to reach wherever they have to? Or is this some kind of personal orgasmic satisfaction by thinking that they are not running late? Gosh!

Well all these questions in reality are something people do without even thinking twice about it. According to a personal eye survey, I have derived a fact that 8/10 people always tick their watches ahead of time. Well the interesting part is, even after people run their clock before time, they will still be late. Because logically when we see the time in our watch, we see it 10-15 mins early but subconsciously we know that the watch at that point in time is ahead of the actual clock (Hopefully that one is set on time) so we relax on this fact of being early and in turn land up reaching late. We command our brain that the time is right and subconsciously we know that it is set ahead by us.

In short, you can’t change your habit of being late by ticking the clock early. But people who always run late can blame it on their watch to show the wrong time set by you!

Finally found some logic behind this bewildered theory of people around.

Cheers!

14 Feb 2009 In: print ad

This is a self promotion ad for McCann healthcare advertising agency.

The idea behind this ad is simple, being an healthcare agency which advertises drugs (medicines), all they can communicate to the consumers is ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’.

Because ‘THERE IS NO DRUG FOR LOVE’ YET!!!

But, hope there is one soon…as it will cure a lot of heart burns. :)

It Happens only in……

4 Jan 2009 In: I2I Articles

A place where I belong and a land which I call my own its name is India.
There are things which I see while driving across my piece of land, and make me wonder   if there could be any other country where such state of affairs are possible? And something inside me says NO!

It happens only in India when you see hundred unknown faces walking on streets praying for an alien dead man and touching their forehead and say God Bless him! To a body which is being taken for its last rites. Superstitiously it’s even believed to be lucky for some.

It happens only in India when on a Monday night at 4 am people queue up in front of a temple to be the first devotee for Tuesday morning prayers and hoping that the Vinayak will shower some Siddhi, and make a miracle happen in their lives.

It happens only in India where 7 days of a week dedicated to each God. That is one God per day. We have supposedly 3, 60,004 Gods what more can I say about this place?

It happens only in India where a child’s first hair shaving (‘Mundan’ as we call it) ceremony is a big affair with 100’s on the guest lists and 1000’s of rupees spend.
WOW! Now where will you ever see people celebrating baldness?

With the billion numbers of people on its land there are trillion anomalous stories. It can happen only in India where nothing is impossible but yet to understand these sumptuous countrymen’s mind is impossible.

YES I still proudly say that it can happen only in India. ‘It’ stands for ANYTHING!
